WHO I AM, WHAT I DO

My name is NaKya, and I am a braider/multimedia creator in Baltimore, MD. I strive to make people feel seen and inspired while showcasing my creative journey and informing others on what I've learned over the years.

I started braiding in 2017. I had been doing braids out of my living room until 2024 when I moved into a suite. I started working at my local beauty supply store in 2020 and have been there ever since. Working there helped me figure out what products work best, what items are most cost effective, and what the most popular items are. In 2022, I started jotting down a few tips in my notes app that helped me with braiding and had the idea to begin writing an e-book in 2025 not realizing I already had a pretty hefty guideline.
